What IS a Sticky Girl?
What is a Sticky Girl?
Sticky Girl n. a female with a pattern of attaching herself to partners who may not have her best interests at heart
A Sticky Girl feels that she cannot unstick from certain partners, even when she realizes that the relationship is dysfunctional. Sticky Girls do not always experience physical abuse, but many do. Most do report emotional and mental abuse. A Sticky Girl often feels obsessive or out of control in the relationship, which causes her to act in an irrational manner. Despite periods of calm, there is much conflict, drama, and agitation in her intimate relationships.

Why would a woman stick to a man?
Relying on a partner for emotional, spiritual, or financial support is not new. It has served its purpose since the beginning of mankind. Some people feel more comfortable in the role of giver, while others feel more comfortable in the role of receiver. It is when the balance in the relationship tips and one party is demeaned, abused, or mistreated that the relationship needs intervention.
Despite the great strides women have made throughout history, many women still stick to a partner. to the point that they do not truly live their own lives, and put their partner first. There are many root causes for this behavior: These include:
Low self-esteem
Childhood trauma
Poor role models
Chemical or alcohol abuse
Destructive behaviors that skew judgement
Poor relationship skills
Emotional immaturity
Unresolved childhood issues
The author of Sticky Girls-Why Women Stay In Bad Relationships, May Woodworth, believes that the process of unsticking from toxic partners starts and ends with the Sticky Girl herself.
"By taking control of her own behavior, the Sticky Girl gains control of her entire life. Blaming partners does nothing to change her situation. Partners come and go. She has only herself when all is said and done. She needs to discover why she does what she doe, and learn from past partners, in order to make better choices in the future," May Woodworth
Why read the Sticky Girls series?
The first volume of the Sticky Girl series delves into why a women feels the need to stick so tightly;
The second volume explores the steps one can take to unstick from negative behavior patterns and partners.
The third volume embraces the concept of becoming a Free Woman (as opposed to Sticky Girl).
